Welcome to Alexanne Cottages, spread out over eight acres of waterfront property.

Overview of Property

  • McKenzie Lake is a quiet secluded lake with approximately 60 cottages with a large portion of the lake surrounded by crown land. We are also a short drive from beautiful Algonquin Park.

  • Enjoy the stunning fall colours, they are breathtaking. Winter activities include ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and is a great spot for snowmobiles as it is on the local groomed trail system.

  • The waterfront has two private docks with a shallow sand bottom (deep enough for a boat) that gradually gets very deep and is excellent for fishing, swimming and water activities.

  • The beach is a short pedal boat ride away.

  • Public boat launch only minutes from cabins.

  • Our 5 cabins are located on eight acres of waterfront property.

  • All cabins can be rented separately or multiple cabins together.

Overview of Cabin 1

  • Four season newly renovated 2 storey home. (estimated availability unknown)

Overview of Cabin 2

  • Cabin 2 is a log cabin. Don't let the siding fool you, underneath is a solid log home.

  • Sleeps 8.  Although cabin can sleep 8, the smaller living area can be crowded on rain days or winter months. A more comfortable number is from 4 to 6 guests.

  • Main floor: Open concept living/dining and kitchen area with great views of the lake. Two bedrooms with a queen bed in one and a double in the other. The bathroom has a stand-up shower and single vanity. Cozy electric fireplace.

  • Loft: The second floor is open concept with two queen beds, TV and a two piece bathroom. It also has a crib if required.

  • Basement: Partially finished basement. Bedroom area has two single beds and a TV. Basement has a walk out, perfect for snowmobilers to enter and take off all their gear.

  • Front porch with BBQ and incredible views of the McKenzie Lake.

Overview of Cabin 3

  • Three season vintage log cabin, will be newly renovated. (estimated availability unknwon)

Overview Cabin 4

  • Cabin 4 is a vintage 80 year old 3 season log cabin that has been renovated with all the modern conveniences. (Seasonally available)

  • Sleeps two.

  • Studio with Queen bed.

  • Full bathroom with shower.

  • Microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle and a small fridge.

  • Large beautiful deck overlooking the lake, with a picnic table and comfortable patio furniture.

Overview of Cabin 5

Cabin 5 is a vintage 80 year old 3 season log cabin that has been renovated with all the modern conveniences. (Seasonally available)

The vintage feel of this cabin offers a very unique experience.

  • Located steps from the lake and includes a screened in porch, private dock and private firepit.

  • Sleeps 4.

  • One bedroom with a double bed.

  • One bedroom with bunk beds.

  • Full bathroom with shower.

  • Fully equipped kitchen.

  • Living and dining area.

  • Electric fireplace.

  • Deck with BBQ and incredible views of the McKenzie Lake.

Amenities provided

  • Pillows for each bed with a fresh pillowslips.

  • One 5 gallon bottle of drinking water.

  • One propane tank.

  • One bag of firewood.

  • One bag of ice.

  • Two toilet paper rolls for each bathroom.

  • One roll of paper towel.

  • Cabin 2 & 5-Fully equipped kitchen which includes toaster, microwave, coffee maker, coffee filters, stove, fridge with freezer (extra fridge in basement of Cabin 1 ) etc...

  • Cabin 4-Microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle and a small fridge.

If you don’t see what you need please ask and I will let you know if it’s available.

  • In summer months, pedal boat, canoe, raft, noodles and boogie boards (Please bring your own life jackets due to sizing accuracy).

Amenities not provided

  • Linens, blankets and towels ARE NOT PROVIDED (please carefully look at size of beds in each room so you can bring the appropriate size sheets).

  • Extra Firewood (can be bought in bags at local general store).

Other information about the area

  • For snowmobiling information go to https://www.ofsc.on.ca/ we are district 6.

  • The gravel roads into the lake are well maintained (even in winter) approximately a 13 minute drive off HWY 127 .

  • McKenzie Lake has a well maintained public boat launch very close to the cabins.

  • Being so close to Algonquin Park is a definite bonus to staying with us. Be sure to take advantage of all the beautiful trails, wildlife and activities the park has to offer.

  • Our small local towns are Maynooth and Whitney, they offer art shops, bakeries, LCBO, pharmacy and groceries. Bancroft is approximately 45 minutes away but has most anything you need.

About us

  • Our family has a five generation history on McKenzie Lake, it holds a very special place in our hearts.

  • Alexanne Cottages is a newly acquired property for our family, it also has a long history on McKenzie Lake.

  • We are working hard to have five cabins available to rent on this stunning eight acre waterfront property.

  • It is a great place for an individual family vacation or for multiple families and friends to enjoy a vacation together.

Cancellation Policy/House Rules

  • Full refund for cancellations up to 30 days before check-in. If booked fewer than 30 days before check-in, full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in. After that 50% refund up to 7 days before check in. No refunds after that.

  • Check-in after 4:00 pm

  • Check-out time 11:00 am

  • No parties or events.

  • No additional guests unless cleared by owner.

  • Cottage must be left in a the same condition as when you arrived.

  • Please keep pets off beds and furniture.

  • All pet droppings must be cleaned up.

  • We ask that you respect the neighbours by keeping your pets leashed if necessary and prevent any barking.

  • Absolutely no candles, instead, we provide flameless, battery-operated candles or flash lights for you to use.

  • Please keep music or general noise to a respectful level, especially at night.

  • Before booking a stay, we may ask for a government-issued ID or that you verify your identity.

  • We will need to know some basic information. Full name, email address, confirmed phone number and payment information.
